Shelf bids lowest in jack-up tender for 4 rigs
Despite bidding the lowest, two other companies might also win contracts if they can match Shelf Drilling's price in an ONGC tender for jack-ups.
ONGC wants to hire three Baker Marine Class (BMC) or Marathon Le Tourneau (MLT) jack-ups in Category-I and one Friede & Goldman rig in Category-II and has received exactly that many offers. When ONGC opened price bids on March 13 (2024), Shelf bid the lowest in Category-I, offering Trident-XII at an EDR of $93,144, including a $2m mobilisation fee.
Trident-XII is presently at the Neelam field on an ONGC contract until October 2024, drilling side-track well NLM_4#9Z to 1562 metres TD, spud on February 5 (2024). Next was Dynamic Drilling, which offered Victory Driller at an EDR of $93,672, including a $1m mobilisation fee.
Victory Driller is on an ONGC contract until November 2024. In February 2024, the rig completed the exploration well BH#AD at the Bassein field.
After spudding the well on October 9 (2024), the rig reached the final 3844 metres TD by January 24 (2024). Gas produced from the well is currently being flared.
Third in this category is Greatdrill Chhaya, presently on an ONGC contract until October 2024. Greatship offered an EDR of $101,166 for Chhaya, including a $1m mobilisation and demobilisation fee.
Chhaya is presently at the D1 (NBP) field, waiting to drill a well. In Category-II, Shelf offered JT Angel, presently on contract with ONGC until August 2024.
Shelf offered the rig at an ODR of $96,000, including a $1m mobilisation fee. JT Angel is presently at the Heera field, waiting to begin drilling.
ONGC invited offers on December 28 (2023), with a February 6 (2024) bid deadline. Six drillers attended the pre-bid on January 9 (2024): Shelf, Greatship, Dynamic, Jindal, Aban Singapore and Abu-Dhabi-based Ocean Oilfield Drilling.
