Wanted: adviser for Jaisalmer E&P potential
Oil India is on the hunt for a consultant to model the oil and gas potential of Rajasthan's Jaisalmer sub-basin.
Anyone interested has until April 1 (2024) to submit bids, which Oil India will open 30 minutes after the 5pm bid deadline. On March 10 (2024), Oil India invited offers for the six-month contract; all offers must remain valid for 120 days.
"We want to appraise the basin's exploration potential," says a company source. "Once the evaluation is done, we'll work out the exploration strategy."
Whoever wins must analyse all available geological and geophysical (G&G) data in the Jaisalmer sub-basin and parts of adjoining sub-basins. "This will help us understand the prospects available," we hear.
Phase-I of the study will last ten weeks and include mainly 2D and 3D interpretation. "Interpretation should be done with an emphasis on both structural and stratigraphic plays," reads the scope of work.
Phase-II will last another ten weeks. Oil India wants 3D Petroleum System Modelling (PSM) for the entire basin along with drilled wells analysis, prospect and lead identification, volume estimates, techno-economic analysis and recommendations for future exploration.
Results must be delivered within 24 weeks from the contract start date. From its side, Oil India will provide G&G data, including wells, 2D, 3D, gravity and magnetic data.
Sprawling across 45,000-sq km, the Jaisalmer sub-basin is a continuation of Pakistan's Middle Indus basin and is classed as a Category-I basin with established commercial production. Oil India is already exploring for and producing gas from the Jaisalmer sub-basin and the exploration of heavy oil in the nearby Bikaner-Nagaur sub-basin.
"Oil India discovered the Tanot gas field in 1988 and has been producing gas from the sub-basin," reads the tender. Oil India holds two PML areas in Rajasthan, five OALP blocks and one DSF block.
