Gujarat Gas sends 4 to PNGRB
Four Gujarat Gas officers are set to join the PNGRB as it throws open its door to officers from a broader range of companies with city gas experience.
On March 15 (2024), Gujarat Gas HR executive director VK Joshi sent out a one-page office order saying: "Gujarat Gas is pleased to announce that the following four employees are hereby deputed (on a loan basis) to the PNGRB." Joshi wished the four employees all the best for their new three-year assignment: Madhoop Sah, associate vice president (Commercial & Marketing - C&M); Vijay Kumar, deputy manager (technical); Arpit Johri, senior engineer (technical) and Ajitesh Singh, senior officer (C&M).
"We have full faith that due diligence has been taken while recommending the names of the four officers mentioned in the letter of March 2 (2024)," replied PNGRB secretary Vandana Sharma to Gujarat Gas managing director Milind Torawane on the same day. Torawane wrote the March 2 (2024) letter to PNGRB chairman AK Jain.
"CVs of the officers attached in the March 2 (2024) letter were examined," added Sharma. "They will contribute to the efficient functioning of the PNGRB."
On December 7 (2023), Gujarat Gas senior marketing VP and HR head Vikas Gangal invited applications by December 22 (2023) from Grade-I (officer/engineer) and higher-ranking employees interested in working at the PNGRB. Gangal stressed that while at the PNGRB, the Gujarat Gas officers would continue to receive the same salaries and allowances.
This is the first time Gujarat Gas officials have been seconded to the regulator's office, which usually takes officials only from GAIL, IndianOil, Hindustan Petroleum and Bharat Petroleum. "In an ideal situation, the regulator should have its own staff cadre," says a source.
"But this move to take experienced staffers from city gas retailers is welcome."
