All kinds of stories are circulating about why it happened, but what's certain is that it has happened.

Adani-Total chief executive Satinder Pal Singh confirms to this report that he has left the company. Speaking to this report on August 5 (2024), Pal said: "Yes, it is true I left the company about ten days ago."

But beyond this, he refused to answer any queries. "I don't want to discuss anything," he said in a calm tone.

"I can only say it was the decision of the shareholders; talk to the shareholders and present the true picture befitting your reputed publication." Adani-Total owns and operates the 5m t/y Dhamra LNG terminal where about 35 to 40 staff are also said to have left the company or have been asked to leave following an alleged complaint by partner TotalEnergies.

Different versions are floating around about what exactly happened on July 25 and 26 (2024) at the Adani Group's Shantigram headquarters in Ahmedabad, which culminated in Singh and his team leaving the company. An industry source claims group chairman Gautam Adani summoned Singh to his office to demand an explanation following an urgent email from France's TotalEnergies.

"There was a heated argument between Gautam Adani and Singh, and Singh tried to defend his team by explaining, but Adani was not ready to listen," we hear. "In a huff, Singh offered his resignation."

An LNG industry consultant says Singh offered to resign on "moral grounds" which was accepted by management. Another well-placed industry source claims Adani security guards asked several employees to collect their personal belongings and leave immediately after logging out of their systems.

"But only Adani employees have been hit," he claims. "None of the Total employees are affected."

Calls, messages and emails to the Adani Group HQ received no answer.
